Canberra medical imaging startup Aurabox has raised $500,000 in Angel funding to remodel how medical doctors and sufferers collaborate and share medical imaging.

The medtech startup plans to make use of the funds to finish technical improvement and run a non-public beta, earlier than launching later in 2022.

Co-founder and CEO Dr Chaturica Athukorala, a radiologist, stated Aurabox has the potential rework the way in which affected person care groups work. It bridges the hole between disparate imaging methods and codecs, offering a single place to view and share medical imaging in full, diagnostic high quality.

“I watched an in depth pal attend three completely different medical imaging practices within the area of two weeks, whereas grappling with a most cancers analysis. She then needed to carry round her imaging on USB sticks and CDs to all of her medical appointments because the medical doctors taking care of her have been unable to view her imaging on one platform,” she stated.

“Aurabox has been developed to unravel this important drawback of being unable to effectively entry and talk affected person info together with imaging, no matter the place it was obtained.”

Chief Know-how Officer and co-founder Christopher Skene, stated the technical structure of the platform is what units it aside.

“Aurabox takes a ‘patient-centric’ method. It assigns every affected person with a novel affected person profile which permits storage, viewing and sharing of all medical imaging, giving them possession and management, whereas additionally permitting specialists to collaborate and share the imaging successfully by way of a single, centralised platform,” he stated.

“Medical doctors can collaborate across the affected person, not simply share an incomplete subset of imaging.”
